Agreed, IsaacIsaiahMusic: But was that technical aspect of Mr. Moore's performance done intentionally for laughs? Don't forget: He has to sell the joke, as well as the legitimacy of the seriousness of the piece. Not an easy thing to do!
Bottom Line: This was a parody; It was done for laughs: It was a witty, poignant piece of British irony, sarcasm & slapstick. The "dodgy" playing may have been done on purpose: This wasn't mean to be considered for the Chopin Competition. Cut him some slack.

Yes, this is clearly a parody of a Beethoven piano sonata (and, incidentally, of some of the more mannered approaches to playing one), although the opening unison melody is also intended (for obvious reasons) to evoke the opening of the Fifth Symphony.
Both this work and the "Pathetique" Sonata - perhaps the principal model for the parody here - are in C minor, the key of Moore's spoof piece.

the ending cadence has to be the fifth though, I can't think of any sonatas with such a long cadence. In any case it's very clever and musical. I actually think Dudley was at least as good a musician as he was a comedian. A brilliant man.

Though one could also argue that the opening unison melody is an allusion to other pieces but the fifth. I personally found it reminiscent of the opening of "Appassionata".
