***************************
Alexandria groaned at the blaring music coming from her alarm, cursing herself for not turning off her alarm the night before. Now that she was awake she'd never get back to sleep and she'd been so looking forward to sleeping in this Saturday morning.
It was hard to believe it really was morning too. She had to double check her alarm clock because with the sky being as dark as it was, it seemed more like 9 in the evening not 9 in the morning. Those Storm clouds still hung over London, dark and threatening.
"Good morning London! It's crazy Katie for 109.7 FM, the morning star (AN: MADE THAT UP) with today's weather report. It's week 6 on the rain watch, will we ever get those magic sprinkles?
the missing rain is quickly becoming a problem and there is talk of water shortages if this small drought continues. But we may have good news for today. Leading International Space Station scientist Dr. Reelton, says there is a significant chance of rain today. The humidity is at 80 percent and-"
"blah, blah, blah" Alexandria said, switching her radio alarm clock off. She'd lost faith and patience in the radio personality who'd been predicting rain for the past 6 weeks with no results a long time ago.
Alexandria got up to put on the recording system she'd set up on her computer. If she was up so uselessly early in the morning, she might as well find something to do.
Settled at her computer chair with an acoustic guitar in her lap, Alexandria placed her head phones snug over her ears and rolled up the sleeves of her pyjamas to reveal lyrics going up and down both arms.
The lyrics were to a song she'd been working on for a while now. It wasn't the lyrics that made the process of actually recording it hard. She wrote those out in less than a day. It was the actual instrumental portion of the song that was slowing her down.
"just breathe, it will come to you in time" Alexandria said with her eyes closed, reciting the words her mother used to tell her when she was little and first learning to read sheet music "just....breath....."
Out of nowhere she could hear a melody playing in her head. As if it were an old song they already knew, her fingers began to strumm her guitar and the melody she could hear in her head was now reverberating off her bedroom walls.
Alexandria's eyes snapped open in shock "what the-"
"this is what you wanted. Now finish it." said a voice in her mind that sounded very similar to her mother's
Alexandria slowly closed her eyes again and after a moment she was able to find a sort of strange calm in the fact that she'd just started playing a song she'd never known before without having to learn the fingering.
She surprised herself again later by also being calm when she started to sing the lyrics to her song and the voice that came out of her sounded nothing like what her normal singing voice was.
This voice was richer and there was such power in it. She actually started to get goosebumps as she sang because it came to her then that she'd finally written a song that showed anyone who listened to it what her heart truly was. There were no veils, everything was out in the open. Every flaw in her, every desire and most importantly her desperation. It was laced in every word she sang.
4 and a half minutes later Alexandria was done singing but still couldn't get over what had just happened. She'd just learnt a lot about herself and it felt great to be able to know completely what she wanted.
Smiling happily, she threw off her pinky and the brain pyjamas, trading them for a pair of jeans next to her bed, a fitted black hanes shirt, her jacket and a pair of purple converse. She couldn't stop smiling. Even when she hit her knee against the door on her rush out of her room, that smile never left her face.
"Hey, where are you going?" Haley, the only early bird in the dorm asked from the kitchen, a mug of coffee between her palms
"boys dorm. Back later" Alexandria answered as she breezed past her and out the front door.
