The plural of octopus is octopuses. Only illiterates refer to groups of them as octopi, and only morons go around acting like know-it-alls without (a) understanding that plurals for words origninating in Greek (such as octopus) and plurals for words originating in Latin (such as cactus) are not always the same or (b) at least bothering to look it up in a decent dictionary.

The plural of octopus is either octopi or octopuses. Both are accepted. Both are correct in ENGLISH. Maybe you should take your own advice and read a dictionary.
