what i meant by preventing greater damage is like the example i said (in which case the guy is not innocent) i guess i had bad choice of words when i said "only ..."
preventing the greater damage also include the punishment for adultery. even though the person who comments adultery might have not hurt any one physically. they still are to be punished so that this act(adultery) does not become "Normal" in the society.especially with the problems that are caused to the society because of this act
