Vocals on this track make it dream pop imo. If you liked it check out Mazzy Star, Fade into You is a great track. One of my favourite B&S tracks anyhow, although not THE favourite.

Probably my least favourite song off The Boy With The Arab Strap album.
I've never liked it when Isobell Campbell sings on Belle and Sebastian songs. I don't mean that in a misogynistic way, but her voice is too breathy and kooky sounding. I prefer to hear Stuart singing his heart off.
Still a good song though, and the video is great, so it gets 4 out of 5 from me.

I respect you opinion Nezwart and most of the time I agree, but this really hits a soft spot for me. In fact, it is one of my favorite songs in general. I feel in this song everything just oddly fits which Isobell's voice complements with her dream-like timber. Also, as a personal philosophy I don't believe in a grand purpose, but I still take joy in simplicity which I believe is the general tone of the song.
