Also, my brother in law got a lap band surgery.
He's had nothing but trouble. Internal Bleeding, his stomach began secreting acid into his blood stream, He got an infection, and then lost WAY too much weight, he looked emancipated. He gained a bunch back now. His wife was against the surgery and decided to try and lose weight by eating more healthy foods and going to the gym. She has lost about 60 lbs and looks and feels better than he does to this day. Those surgeries are scary.

I have to be completely honest with you that there is more to developing diabetes than being fat. I know 2 people in my life who have diabetes and have NEVER (yes, NEVER) had a problem with being overweight. Yes, it can be a big factor, but if someone who is overweight eats right and exercises, they decrease their risk exponentially. Don`t generalize things like that.
