Diplomatic Jet ran such a game race. He seemed to be lugging in a bit in deep stretch, but the winner wasn't going to let him by. Does anyone know what happened to this horse later on? Did he break down?

After this race he went on to have a very successful year.. he won the Manhattan, Man O War,Turf Classic and W L McKnight... he raced up until the end of 1998... I think he went on to be a low level sire...

Thanks for the update. I had followed this horse on the NYRA circuit during those G1 scores, and I guess age caught up with him. But Fred Hooper's horse was as game as they could be going those marathon distances, and Flag Down was always a close nemesis. Hope he can produce some good turfers with the right mares..
