read my comments again. i said the mazdaspeed. who here can argue that the mazdaspeed 3 owns it's competition. civic si, sentra se-r, and tiburon. both can't hold a lick to mazdaspeed 3 in terms of the cars being completely stock.

sorry they do. it may not be the important parts like engine internals but hoses, lines, and other minor items do come from ford. Ask any dealership in america. do you really think that as good as the mazdaspeed series and the rx-8 are, do you really think i didn't consider buy them the last time i was in the market for my last car? my payments are done in january and the with the R3 coming out i'm definitely checking that out. don't let your pride cloud your judgment.

Yea i would never trade in my STI for an rx-8. However, they are a great car to consider because of their relatively low price. i just don't like the torque. the high revs and handling is a plus.

Sti sounds good...He says that the rx8 engine sound is good yet with the 350z he says it just drones? hmm, I think that, that V6 is the best sounding 6 ever.. even the 911 sounds like a drainpipe compared to my exhaust note.. mind you I have fitted a K&N induction kit and Fujitsubo Cat back exhaust system to it :D

Well first off. About mazda. They make ALL thier own cars, granted it is true they share some parts with ford but their unibodies are all original mazda. Ford actually adopts mazda bodies for thier cars in europe(well some like the new fiesta and ka based on the mazda 2 which is a small car much like the fit over seas). The Focus is entierly Ford and the 6 is actually the ford fusion not the tarus. Ford would do well to start using more of mazdas stuff in their cars.

Mazda3 uses the same duratec 4 which is used in, "European" F. Focus; Mazda designed this motor, however the R&D funding came from Ford. Until recently, the motor in Mazda 6 was the same one used in Jag., Lincoln and F. Taurus, as you said, the Fusion for 2010.
I merely made some generalization as far as Mazda/Ford, for the clueless here who are ragging on the RX8 & other rotary cars w/out much personal knowledge about them. They get the wind of Ford owning 35% of Mazda, then start...

i have and it was disappointing. not enough torque for me. i like that break neck off the line launch which this car doesn't have. Hell the car is slower than a CIVIC SI stock for stock. come on now. not to mention reliability issues. when your engine rev's that high (not that there is anything wrong with that) the parts on your car wear that much quicker and when your putting in some ford parts on top of that...well you know. people want cars that have better reliability.

i think the problem with me was that a lot of my friends that have purchased one boasted so much about it, i think i was expecting too much. granted their cars have been suped up beyond belief but still... come on... slower than a freaggin' civic?

The RX8 is extremely reliable and share NO parts with Ford. 99% of the parts come from Japan, and 100% of the RX8 is assembled there as well. Ford owns 33% of Mazda's shares. Thats it. Idk where everyone comes off thinking Ford builds the RX8. And uhhh...the RX8 is every inch of door to door with an S2000 till around 100 mph. Are you saying a Civic Si is as fast as an S2000?

Dam. it seems as though your pride is overshadowing your judgment there. i know that the the rx-8 is a mazda thing developed by mazda and made soley by mazda. what i am saying is that the minor parts like hoses and other "soft parts" comes from from ford. seriously do you really think that if ford had something to do with it's engineering, do you really think the rx series would have come this far? the rotary engine would have been extinct if ford had taken over over the rx.

Yeah the b series trucks are an American market truck only. They may export the truck to other areas where truch sales are high but the truck isnt really a mazda at all.
Mazda Cars on the other hand (this inclueds the modified 6 structure that underpins the cx7 and 9 and the ford edge) are developed by mazda. Borrowing rubber hoses and the likes does not mean enough ford boringness has bled into the cars. The RX8 was never meant to be an economy car, just mazdas own uniqe sports car.

Wrong....SORTA. Both the Civic and the 8 share very near the same in torque numbers, so their quarter mile times are close since these races are based completly on acceleration. 15.0 to the mazda and 15.1 to the si Stock to stock. However the advantage goes to the Mazda which handily trounces the honda on a road course. Road holding, breaking and lane changes are all better in the mazda. Don't get me wrong its not a perfect car, but it is faster than a civic si.

You have the times reversed. A stock RX8 can hit mid 14's while the Civic Si will be damn lucky to even make it into the 14's.
