BackwardzButtercup, my guess is since Rare (company that developed the game) are based in the UK, and I believe it is used more socially there and isn't as rude or offensive as in the US, so they probably didn't think much of using it.
I could be wrong though as I am basing this on what us Australians are like and assuming the UK is similiar.

This was AWFUL, especially when the original DK was so so great with such beautiful music and atmospheric levels. Hard to believe that the N64 was such a downgrade from how beautiful the games originally were.
