Yeah I had a similar situation when you made this video. I broke my ankle, had to get a cast too (not quite as large as yours). And I know it's too late to say this but an easier tip for getting down the stairs with crutches is to take the crutches off, hold onto the railing, slide the crutches down the stairs, hop down the stairs with one foot, and retrieve the crutches. It's what I did, got me around pretty fast.
