Docking and mulesing are very different processes, though. As far as I know, and I'm by no means an expert, most docking is done by the use of a tail band, which is virtually painless to the sheep, even if it sounds a bit unpleasant to us. I don't know any shepherds who still practice mulesing with their sheep. It's quite a dated practice.
There are other ways to prevent parasites from taking up residence in a sheep's hind end, of course... But docking also makes it easier to shear a sheep. :)

Actually mulesing is still done in areas, and has only been phased out gradually since a few years back.
All I was saying, is that there are countries where docking is illegal, and the sheep still manage to do fine. I've been involved a lot in the dog world, where likewise some countries still allow docking, and I've seen many cases of it being rather... unpleasant, at best, for the animals involved.

If only people would relize how intelligent these animals are!
I've got a doberman I've been trying to teach agility tricks for 3 years and he still wont go through the hoop or tunnel!
and Im so glad you didnt dock his tail.
I know many farmers have to dock their tails because of flystrike but I still dont like it.
You look like a wonderful loving owner.

actually docking is to prevent diseases. My sheep's tails are docked. Otherwise pooh would get caked on them and that is not good. Please do your research before you go saying that docking lambs tails isn't good. ;)

One main reason is because of fly strike.
And docking a animals tail is wrong. God designed animals to have tails, they are not meant to be cut off!
Its like cutting off part of theyre spine.
