Gav's EV Conversion 10 - Installing the Motor
Uploaded by: cant7think7clearly
Video Description:
The motor is in!
After a bit of a delay, the adapter plate has been created and mated to the gearbox, and the motor has been installed into the Tredia!
We had a few delays along the way with problems finding an engineer, our wedding being overseas, the adapter plate & motor not fitting in the first time, and THEN having to get a mounting bracket welded up.
Whew, there's a bit of work involved in getting the motor installed but at long last it's in!
I noticed in the video that we make that heavy motor look light & fluffy lowering it into the Mitsubishi. It is not. I think it was due to editing out all swearing and straining noises from the video.
:)
I can finally say the motor has been installed into the car and I think a big Yeeehhhaaaa is in order.
That's one small step for Gavin, but one giant leap for Gav's EV conversion.
Feel free to comment and offer tips and check out the installation in more detail at www.KiwiEV.com
ANOTHER UPDATE!!
I'm selling DVDs of the whole project for $15 USD at my website www.KiwiEV.com (That includes Airmail postage too!)
The quality's much better than on Youtube and it comes with an unreleased Bonus Video!

I love how you just dive into things. Cutting up the heater core with pruning shears was hilarious.
I found your vids while looking for the Tesla sports car. I wish someone made something affordable like that in the U.S.. I'm kind of glad gas prices have gone up. Maybe U.S. car makers will think smaller now, and electric :) It looks like I'll have to make my own though.
I wrote this before I got to the Slovakian part.
I was pretty close thou.
Wow I just realised how tired I sound at the beginning (I'd just driven 4.5 hours so I had an excuse).
I thought I had hope to build one of these bad boys when you said you were not mechanically inclined but theres no way and you ARE mechanically inclined, I'm not but thats ok, I still pay less then you because I just dont move my car lol (no plug in fee lol)
In DC it does not matter where you close the circle, there are always 12V and the flowing amperage is determined by the resistance(U=R*I) so there can be sparks too, no matter which order you connect it.
