The UK saved the world,FACT!!
UK lost 5000 ships in WW2
Royal Ensign flew over 1/2 the worlds entire shipping fleet.not just military,cargo,transport etc.
DDay-despite 300 military ships sunk the RN supplied 2/3 of the fleet.
The fact is this the victory was a combined effort yes,but if those ships had fallen into JAP/GERMAN hands,USA would have been crushed like a fly.
Amazing if you look at these facts USA didn't actively participate in the Battle Of Britain.

What I'm surprised is that the germans didn't know about this lol. They could of sent a recon plane or several to see whats so quiet in Britian. If they knew about it, they could of sent another large formation of planes to try and prevent it. Or have more Pz Div's sent to Normandy. Sadly, I can't believe they really didnt sent a recon plane over Britian.

By this time the allies had almost complete control of the skies. Add to that superior radar, and any recon plane would have been shot down before it got to Dover.

The German generals in Normandy (von Runstedt, Rommel etc.) knew this was the real invasion the moment it began, but things were held up in Berlin because Hitler took a strong sedative and gave a stern order not to be awakened. It would be several days before Der Fuhrer, who was certain the allies would land at Pas de Calais was convinced this was the real deal. By then, of course,it was too late.

Rommel was at his home in Germany when the invasion happened and knew nothing of the landings. Apart from the American beach of "Omaha" the British/Canadian beaches of Gold, Sword and Juno met with success. Basically because they landed on the correct beach unlike poor Omaha.
Also the British inventions worked in their favour. Underwater tanks that had the German defenders awe struck and Bangalore explosives were amongst the many British innovations that helped make 06/06/1944 so successful.

Look we need to be united! The UK didn't saved the world, the USA didn't saved the world! Every country on the world (except Japan, Germany and Italy) saved! Because of that it's called World War! The UK had the most casualty's but it didn't had the best success!

The battle of France lasted one and a half month, 90 000 French soldiers died and around 200 000 were wounded.
If you count all dead and wounded allied troops during the battle of France the number would be somewhere around 400 000.
How did this happen if there was no fight?
