Oil IS running out. There's loads left, but the easy to get at stuff is gone. That's why the price is going up so much. In 20-50 years there will still be a lot in the ground but it will be so expensive to extract that renewable energy will be cheaper.

The majority of farmland in the world has no nutrients. It is just a sponge we pour things made out of oil into to be able to grow food. When there is no more oil there is no more food. Renewable energy can't solve that.

No it cant solve that, but nobody is asking it to. Artificial fertilizers can be replaced by natural fertilizers from the ocean , animals, swamps, and human compost. And there will still be enough oil around to produce the ammonia for some crops. If we stop growing corn just to feed it to cows, we can grow much less artificial fertalized crops. Dont be an alarmist sheep.

I am not an alarmist sheep. When the Soviet Union collapsed N. Korea lost their oil supply and tried to get by on exactly the types of things you are suggesting and it was a total disaster. They are still begging us for oil. Look it up. Google eating fossil fuel for info on what you can and cannot do without hydrocarbon fuel.

You're misinformed. None of these things except current pesticides are inherently based on oil. Any replacement for oil that is equally cheap would do just fine; but oil has some huge shoes to fill for any potential replacement.

You did not read my post in it's entirety. It is all made from hydrocarbon fuels not specifically oil. I really don't have time to sit around and make stuff up. The price of food is tied directly to the price of oil and we don't have to actually run out for the fun to begin.

If the planet has x number of years left of oil, why are the top 20% wealthiest money grabbers not conserving? Its got to take alot of electricity to power homes that look like hotels, and fly around the world in jets, and start wars. What a huge waste of resources that is when resources are running out. It doesnt make any sense. I thought you guys were big on green. Something is wrong with this picture. Mid to long term goals are not good enough, people are pissed.

Those muddy oil sands in Canada now supply America with more oil than any other country...20% of America's oil...and nobody knows this. It's news to everybody.
Also the oil sands are second only to Saudi Arabia in reserves. We can produce for almost 200 years, there's so much oil there.

Your numbers are incorrect. The total tar sand oil production is only 1.1 million barrels a day. The US uses 20 million, which would be only 5%.
Besides, tar sands are expensive to mine so sure there is 200 years of oil there, but it's going to cost a lot of money and use a lot of natural gas energy to produce.
The issue is not just the amount of oil, but the cost of oil. It's the end of cheap oil that really matters.

Non-sensible question. I have no use for either a gun or a solar panel.
I would like to see the use of oil to seriously decline, but then again It would be great for populations to naturally decline and economies to be focused on stability instead of growth.
The whole world needs a re-think, a whole new concept...
A genius plan, perhaps hundreds of years away, after many more wars and suffering. Someone will eventually come up with a plan.

cheap energy is of the past. the middle-classed guy is gonna have a hell of a job to pay for transportation as in petrol/electricity and food/water ... it will all start to change in our lifetime and Wars and social unrest riots and police state methods as well as starving and dieing is what you will have to come to terms with. it wont be like I'll tank here up and go shopping anymore ....
