You could also argue that this show is anti-male, because it advocates and glorifies the disposibility of men. The men are the ones out there, willing to put their lives on the line to catch Kira and protect society.
When Misora Naomi loses her life, she is mourned because the CIA "lost a good agent". When L loses his life, they say "his sacrifice will not be in vain".
What is implied there is "It's okay for men to die in the line of duty, but not for women to die."

Its not that surprising when you think about it... Lets face the facts here. Who has been second best for what seems like an eternity? Women. Who has had to go through many hardships because of the male human? the female human. Why are so many women scared to go out at night? Because of the men. Lets face it here... There is a great number of males who still treat women as second best, and that's if the women is lucky. I hated Deathnote for this reason. It makes women stupid, and i'm a woman...

I can vouch for that that China still prefers boys over girls. Even though I'm an American student, I went to China a couple of years ago and I saw evidence of that. As a feminist, it really upset me because girls deserve as much a chance than guys....

Yeah. When you ignore the obvious sexism in it, there's a really good story behind it. Probably one of the best i've ever seen in an anime. Why did L have to die though? He was amazing! XD
