And in acceleration. Figures have been 0 - 100km/h in 2.1 seconds. The worst was 0 - 100km/h in 3.5 seconds during the development stages of the non short wheel base quattro. Yeah i agree best sounding car ever and the ultimate contender till the arrival of the peugeot 205 t16

Wicked! Banned for being too fast due to a lack of regulations and rules. Group B was far better than todays computerised 300 bhp wrc cars. They just arent as spectacular or as fast as group b. Nothing quite like the crowd reaching out an touching the action. That was until spectators got killed of course. Wasnt so cool after that.

Uf... 3 kills in a Rally team (Lancia) in 2 years. But those engine sound are really fuckin fantastic, I like too much the Audi's sound and the rear fire.

I spose you would say that being an Italian. Yeah it was a mint car and one of the most technically advanced combing supercharger and turbocharger together but at the end of the day it came too late and peugeot had more victories under its belt. Had teh s4 come earlier say 1984 then it may have been a different story. The s4 was boosting well over 600bhp by the end of group b in 86.

Wouldn't say the s4 is the best ever in my opinion. The best would include the lancia stratos, a technical breakthrough. The audi quattro, introduced 4 wheel drive. The ford escort, pure legend. The metro 6r4 and rs200, to this day are the ultimate rallycross cars and probably will be forever.

Wonderful footage to remember the Gread Days of rallying from. I agree that the S2 was the most spectacular, but I suppost (moan) that the 'best' of the Group B cars was the rather robotic Peugeot T16... It just quietly did its job. But despite that, give me an E2 anyday :-) Regards, Paul

Absolutely true: I once owned the 'normal' Audi Coupe (2.1 ltr 2wd non-turbo). Ordinary car, ordinary performance, WONDERFUL SOUND! That block produced magic!!!

Can't say much about Lancia, but just say that the S4 was not INTRINSICALLY unsafe... just say things happened to the car that the designers did not envisage...
