Project Camelot looks at George Green's magnetic motor

Uploaded by: jagbodhi
Video Description:
When Project Camelot met with George Green in April 2008, we had some fun playing with his tabletop magnetic motor. We had just as much fun putting together a short 7 minute video showing its operation. We're fully aware that there's been a lot of comment about this on the internet since it was first shown several years ago at a UFO conference. Take a good look: the demonstration is very clear, though what's happening physically may not be. You can make one yourself in under an hour for a few dollars and a trip to a hardware store. Click here for details: http://projectcamelot.org/magnetic_motor.html

Saved me writing the same thing: this is an object lesson in how a refusal to learn/apply the fundamentals of scientific testing in favour of the arrogance of using one's "common sense" will lead directly and almost immediately into embarrassing sucker-dom. All credibility of Project Camelot's "research" is completely blown-out due to total failure addressing their confirmation bias. They damage true research more than they help. You have to discard everything they record as a nice fairy tale.

Comment to NinjaCoden: Are you retarded? The US? Correction: The entire fucking world won't use "this" type of energy. Plus what does this have to do with SUV's? Seriously, stop reading all the CNN bullshit and think for yourself.
As for this tech "revealed" to the world you have to take everything with a grain of salt. This isn't religion so you don't need faith. Give anyone a schematic, time, and money and I'm sure they'll reproduce this. Problem is, with research money is hard to come by.

I've built computer models of every "perpetual motion" machine I've seen. They only every work when set for zero friction, zero air resistance, perfect smoothness. Even then, you can't extract usable energy from them. Applying any kind of load (in the way that a dynamo, pump, compressor or winch would) causes the whole thing to stop in seconds.
The entropy inherent in this one is massive. It only appears to work because the man keeps moving his hand. The pseudo-scientific babble is bad, too.
that might be. ... ( 1 week ago by Dm3qXY)
that might be. however, i have to build it myself :).
btw: computer simulation has its limitations, and most of the time such software is designed to show what u are expecting to get.. no scientific discovery will u ever do on a computer simulation. anyways, this is about engineering and not science.

Vortex : big bullshit. each time rotor fall down magnet lift it up So mouvment is cause by pressession of the AXIS:
One Proof. Put the Rotor Axis on A shaft Then
You will observe no more Move. Then by this facts,G Green Seems to be a huge story teller.

"This is about engineering and not science" made me laugh out loud.
Please, don't do that to me. I'm in a library and I don't want to make a scene.
And for your own safety, do not go around telling engineers that they are not scientists.

Well, it's good we are laughing.. and healthy too.
I am an engineer, i am not a scientist! Science is about finding what is goig on around, it's about discovering stuff, while engineering is about applying what u/we already know, it's about fallowing the models.
i am not even he first one to make this statement...

Hey, it's all good. Thanks for replying.
There is a difference between a scientist and an engineer, true. Scientists tend to be optimists, while engineers look for failure modes. (Which is quite scary, because it's the scientists who tell us that GM crop trials are "safe"...)
Above all, though, you can't beat empirical rationalism ('scientific method'). Or can you? With scientific method, you can test everything - even itself.
I'm just addicted to logic :)
I tried it and ... ( 4 days ago by Videot99)
I tried it and played around with it for hours. If only works if the center magnet is allowed to move around on the table. Put it on a stable shaft with a centering bearing and nothing happens. I'm pretty surprised at Green, I used to respect him. Maybe he's been fooled himself (he seems to be a pretty smart man, but not a scientist), but he should have tried it with a shaft before making public statements that it would work that way!

I'd like to see it perform some kind of work. I doubt that it can.

Would it work if the magnet was connected to the shaft by a ball bearing (maybe a ball and socket design that allowed the rotor to fall and rise, but also turned the shaft while it spun)?

Incorrect, the spinning effect is a result of the change in velocity of the ring of magnets above the spinney thing. If you keep the ring of magnets still the spinney thing won't spin.
ie. a small amount of mechanical motion from his hand is translated via magnetic force into the rotor.
If it sound too good to be true... it usually is too good to be true.
Hey Videot99, What ... ( 8 hours ago by gadzometer)
Hey Videot99, What sort of magnet is the center one? Has it got one polarity on top of the disk and one of the bottom (Axially Magnetised) or is the left side one polarity and the right side the other one (Diametrically Magnetised)? I'm pretty sure I can rig a crank shaft that will provide a wobble but I want to see if the energy produced is enough to move the magnet around on the crank. Cheers.
Hey doobedoo and ... ( 8 hours ago by gadzometer)
Hey doobedoo and Dm3qXY, good to see you guys having a rational discussion. Pretty rare on youtube from what I found. I'm an engineer as well and I believe our job is to take scientific knowledge and make it work in practical ways for the benefit of everyone. I also happen to be an optimist but money/time is our main constraint so at work I always take the path previously walked on to reduce risk. My spare time does not have these constraints. :)
