I always imagined (from all I've read) that La Merm turned up on the set ON TIME with coffee and donuts for everyone. Not hard to see why she'd find Monroe LATE and hungover (bless her) a test of patience. And Monroe WAS miscast in this movie.

haha, Ethel hated coffee and she said donuts thickened her waist line....Monroe would argue with everyone about stupid things, and Ethel said she had no business doing that because she would always show up late and be drunk or something, so it was an on going thing. I think they should have used the same cast as they did in Call Me Madam I think it would have been way better.

It certainly needed different casting, anyway. With all due respect to Marilyn Monroe, it made no sense (in the movie) why two incredible talents like O'Connor and Gaynor were working as support act to Vicki Lester who was - and let's be honest here - not the most gifted one in the room.
