Oh please, you try playing the same songs every time you perform for 3+ years are see if you get tired of them, especially a song like Hey Joe! Also, if you've ever bothered to hear Hendrix's recorded version of Sunshine Of Your Love, you'll notice he doesn't sing there either, in fact, he never sang the lyrics, ever, even live; and, in all seriousness, there was no single act he could have done in 1969 that would have ruined him (besides what obviously happened, R.I.P.), and he knew that.
