Try to use hot water to break up the eco earth brick..Be careful not to burn yourself. Hot enough to kill any parisites..Dont place your reptile on the substrate until it cools off to room temp.

They don't have to. They only do it in the wild. Most breeders do it to prepare them for breeding..I don't recommend that you do it.. Its very taxing on them. If not properly done, they could die.

I got one of mine from a turtle farm on the internet and the other one at Petco..Try a reptile expo near your home. You will get a very good deal there. Or just keep an eye out on craigslist for a posted tortoise for adoption.
