Actually it hasn't been busted at all. Since Hardy's idea was published almost 50 yrs ago, only one paper has discussed it in the anthropological literature (Langdon 1997) and that was a straw man argument. You are just propoaging a myth. The 'rejection' has been due to gossip not science.
heh, so many ...( 11 months ago by S4nik4n)
heh, so many assumptions here. All this about fat babies and using this as evidence why we evolved in water? Well, since fat doesnt fossilize all that well, how do you know that the fat baby characteristic did develop just one million years ago, after we left the trees and began to walk upright. For all we know, the common ancestor to us and chimps spent much of their time on the ground, and chimps then evolved to going back into the trees. Evolution is one twisted tree.
Hardy/Morgan ...( 11 months ago by AlgisKuliukas)
Hardy/Morgan thought the 'more aquatic' phase happenned over 6mya but other proponents have other ideas. Whenever fat babies evolved it's still easier to explain in a waterside context than on the savannah plains or in trees.

How can you be annoyed at her for that? Until very recently women in the West were basically second class citizens and still are in many parts of the world. In Islamic countries women are treated like cattle. I say good for the femminists!

If cars became a large enough experimental pressure to the point that it was pretty much a fact that every one would get critically hit at least once in there life then yes only the fat and the quick would survive, and they would have to war for dominances over the earth witch would last a million years.

Feminist like to live in a fantasy world in which men and women will be exactly the same. Truth is that each sex has a different role to play, nature and evolution made it that way.

sexist? how does she think contemporary evolutionary views are sexist? does she think darwin was trying to find a way to belittle women when he forged his theories? of course not! I mean, I'm all for girl power but when you just challenge everything solely because it's created by males, that's just plain insecure with your femininity. science is supposed to be gender neutral and I really don't appreciate the way she talks about men.

Elaine Morgan is a genius and if you don't think so you have not fully read her work. This video is not adequate to show you. Start with her 1997 book "The Aquatic Ape Hypothesis" which is well thought out and thoroughly researched.

You can be a genius and have some severe psychological baggage. Elaine Morgan may've accidentally tripped on the right answer (maybe not) but for all the wrong, insane, paranoid, feminist-fantasy reasons. Her psychotic, tinfoil hat diatribe at 2:30 just made me push stop and find something else to listen to. I'm sorry, that just thoroughly reinforced any derogatory stereotypes (no matter how extreme) of feminist scientists.

Oh, I guess being 98.5% chimpanzee means we are really a brilliant species...no--without the big aquatic neocortical forebrain we'd still be living in trees. We have all the attributes of aquatic mammals. Don't like it? Too bad. If we acted more like whales than monkeys maybe we wouldn't be destorying the earth.
