They are both similar only the red one is more for samples etc. the blue one or 'MX' is the one if u wanna just mess about as it has more sounds.

get the emx.
the elektron is ridulously expensive and it seems basic in comparison to the emx.get both if you have the money,but for quick fun and instant satisfaction go for the emx.or a roland groovebox,or an older electribe model.
