'Racist'? As a white American - as you can see in my profile video, wherein I also confess my rather obscene enjoyment of trans-women - I find nothing particularly racist about blaming September 11th on failed American foreign policy; chiefly, keeping bases on Saudi soil (the actual justification claimed by bin Laden for the attack) and our misled, religiously-instituted support of the artificial state of Israel.
Overman1 - The ...( 8 months ago by kinahura)
Overman1 - The issue is whether there is an objective difference between friends/confidants (I still can't find your quote but will keep trying) and spiritual mentors/advisors. Some friends shape my moral and philosophical views, and some do not. My spiritual advisor/mentor does shape these views. That's the point of such advice/mentoring. Therefore, Wright can be presumed to have shaped Obama's views whereas the same presumption does not apply to Hagee. Make sense?

You're right that there isn't anything particularly racist about blaming 9/11 on US policy. Nevertheless, Wright has made numerous demonstrably racist statements. Regarding 9/11 "blame," I agree that US policy, including bases on Saudi soil, was a proximate cause and purported justification for the attacks. I do not believe, however, that those actions justified the attacks. Do you?

This speech, apart from whatever you think of Nixon, is used , or at least referred to , in every introductory college course in logic, as containing every basic form of fallacious reasoning known. As far as named fallacies goes - it has them all, from an academic point of view. Bravo, for Nixon, in furthering the education of his fellow Americans.

Darkside i agree with you Obama "how" he says things and not what he says....infact Robert Samuelson of Newsweek said "Obama is largely a stage presence defined mostly by his powerful rhetoric. The trouble, at least for me, is the huge and deceptive gap between his captivating oratory and his actual views." Plus anyone who thinks pulling troops out of the Middle East is a smart idea is ignorant.

I think for what Nixon was it was a fairly honest speech compared to what we get today but a big disapointment in that he escalted and supported the "war' in vietnam.

websuspect: nixon didn't escalate the Vietnam "Conflict": he actually introduced the policy of "Vietnamization," where we would support S.Vietnam with money and supplies, but no more troops. He did do that Cambodia thing, though. Too bad he had to be corrupt, he was great with foreign policy and had a good voice.

This man was evil. He knew good foreign policy because the New World Order told him what to say, do and believe this like they did for Hitler and Stalin and the people before him. Tsar Nicholas was their boy but he messed up and before that, it was The German Kaiser and Woodrow Wilson.
