Part of a series of videos exposing the funny stupidity of creationists and why they deserve to be laughed at. In each case the creationist statements are shown to be outrageously stupid by even the most rudimentary knowledge of science.
In this episode Jonathan Wells of the creationist organization The Discovery Institute is taken to task over his bizarre assertions that the inability of a burst cell to spontaneously reassemble means that abiogenesis must be impossible. The bacteria is a modern organism....the end product of 4bn years of evolution. It is a complex organism and as such can compete in the biosphere using the fast reproduction 'strategy'. The reason bacteria are around today is they are vigorous reproducers. Jonathan Wells seems to be attacking the proposal that 'MODERN bacteria were the first life on Earth', which is in reality a straw man that exists nowhere outside of Wells's mind. The reasoning is similar to that used by Ken Ham, that you don't get abiogenesis from blended frogs. All of this seems to be ignoring the key factor that the biosphere is a harsh competition. There is simply no niche where abiogenesis could get a grip where it simply would not be out competed by life that has been around for 4bn yrs.

Hello King, you are right about the convincing, we are set in our ways but it is nice to talk to you. Australia is smaller than the U.S.A with a population of 21 million. The centre is maily desert with the east and south west coast the wettest. If god is true which I don't know tha he it did creat animals and humans seperate by seperating their evolutionary branch. Now that could be true. The Ark is too small for the million of species that it needed to accomodate.

Sorry to upset you with the can't part. Also from a central point, the Ark how did the animals come to the areas they now occupy. They would have to have traveled over vast amounts of water, while this is not prossible, the number of species makes it improbable they all could have dispersed. How come marsupials are the dominant mammal in Australia with some in the Americas, and where are they in Asia. From where they would orriginate.

Well, there is a popular imagery that the Ark was a tiny or big boat the way we see them today. I try to point out that just because people lived in ancient times doesn't mean they were not creative and intelligent. Look at the box car train today, it's very do-able! Sort of like a floating zoo.

Terrencje, Human kind, dog kind, cat kind, bear kind, etc, etc.
We have different races: White people will have white children, Black people will have black children. If a white and black have children, it will be mixed, not evolved.
Same thing with brown and black bears. If two different species of bear mate (grizzly and polar), it will STILL be a bear. That offspring will not go on to breed with a lion or shift its shape to adapt because it's still a bear.

That is the answer I always get. Just examples.
No deffinition, no boundary of 'kind'.
Chimps and humans share a defect gulo-gene, ERV's and mutations in those ERV's. Cytochrome C is equal while it is not in other animals.
That means Chimps and humans are the same kind?
Are a lion and a tiger the same kind? Why or why not? Are Homo neanderthalensis and Homo sapiens the same kind? And Homo habilis and Australophitecus afarensis? And what about Homo sapiens and Australopithecus afarensis?

Genesis 6:15 the ark was 300 (140 metres, 450 feet) cubits long, 50 ( 23 mertres, 75 feet) cubits wide and 30 (13.5 metres, 45 feet)cubits high, from the New International version 1984. Exact measurements, too small for all the animals, and the bible doesn't say how they got in there without mortality.

Your statement "White people will have white children, Black people will have black children' is not entirely true, it depends on the amount of melanin encoded within the cenes. There are known istances of Black people having white children. In east Africa the Albinos are currenty being killed for traditional medicine. Poor bastards. Cross breeding of animals Koala with a Dunnart they are just too different behaviourally and in habitat addaption and occupation.

evilwitch18 I won't say that believeing in God is a bad thing, I am saying that believeing in a book that has been around for so long that no one knows if the facts in it are true.

I would like to thank the producer of this very fine series. It is refreshing to see that not every scientist stands idly by while science and the scientific method are attacked by the delusional or uneducated masses.
