Don't forget him as protraying arrogant, dark, erratic and violent. I like Colin Baker in his 'Stranger' post-who videos and Big Finish tapes, but I could've tolerated him if he didn't physically abuse Peri from the start. That sort of thing puts the 5th Doc's tragic sacrifice in vain.

Colin Baker had potential, and Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker also could be qite violent. I think his main problem may have been the coat - admittedly the Doctor's a bizarre alien travelling in time and space, but not even Zaphod Beeblebrox would wear that coat.

Exactly. Colin would have been so much better if he hadn't been required to literally dress like a clown. It was interesting to see the darker side of a Doctor portrayed in this role.

lol, he was an asshole to peri. i always felt sorry for her. and yeah, what's with the smegging coat!!! you at least gotta admit he's the worst of all the doctors. he's like the timothy dalton of the who-niverse lol. the only good role he had was a villain on blake's 7 lol.

I think the idea was that they would slowly "peel off the layers" of Colin's doctor and you'd learn more of why he acts so violently. Sadly he didn't play the doctor for very long...

He's actually a very good doctor/actor.
Sadly with his character he didn't realise he'd be booted out in 2 years so he didn't have enough time to evolve the character. Colin has often said that if he had had the choice he would have gone as long if no longer than Tom Baker. Therefore it didn't develop much.
I personally think it's a good change, Sixth doctor is one of the best imo, only problem is lack of stories and general quality of the 6th doctor stories.
