Stratocaster and VOX Amp

Most of the criticisms I received for the PRS vs Stratocaster Video suggested that I improve the effects and amp I was using. In fact I was using cheap ZOOM effects and have never really thought about 'tone' as much as other guitarists obviously do.
I have now purchased better effects (BOSS) and a VOX AD120vt Amp. This short clip features an American Fender Stratocaster 1990 and the VOX amp. I have minimised the effects and tried to get the original Strat and VOX tone.
I think there is an improvement in the tone.

Umm. Are strats good to play alternative,punk,pop,indie? I have no clue. How about metal? Cuz I've seen people only play blues on strats.

strats are good for metal, used by iron maiden, yngwie malmsteen uses them. and like every punk/pop/indie band uses them, like blink 182 etc

they are amazing for alternative punk pop and indie, but it all depends on how you wanna sound. as far as metal, if your gonna have a whole crapload of distortion, its gonna minimize the difference between the single coil and humbucker sound. but like suckit mentioned, alot of metal guys use it. like the slipknot rythm guitarist, he uses a fricking telecaster

If anybody says strats aren't good for metal then i'll put my video of me playing the leads fade to black or the day that never comes by metallica, or something by ozzy or pantera... i have a vox ad50vt, all the crazy sound effects and the 10 or so different amp options is just sweet. Can play anything from classical to heavy metal. It's just insane. Oh and i have a American Deluxe Strat with a diamondback or w\e it's called humbucker with the S-1 switching system.

i personally think this gibson buisness is a load of bollocks
I picked my 300 pound shecter over a gibson entirely because it has better tone and action.
People just think Gibsons are awesome even though they are completely overrated and now its much easier to make a top quality copy than it was 50 years ago
