Well, I knew Ofra through Sarah Brightman, and her voice makes me feel soooooooo god ... I went to the web and found her bio ... just to discover that she is dead ... My mind suddenly stops and a cold runs by my back...
I cant believe that great woman is not any longer between us ...
Her music , voice , gaze and love will live in her songs ...

Same thing happened to me. I thought she was stell alive when I discovered she was dead, and had been dead for about 5 years. I hate that feeling.

I understand she died of AIDS, and Israeli friends blame her husband who also died of the disease. A sad story for such a wonderful singer.

I had Ofra on my Winamp list for 4 years I think and I'm such a fool that I only got to listen to her songs just a few months ago and that by mistake.I can't describe the feelings that run through my soul.This woman's songs are beyond amazing,the words are full of meaning.I cant believe that she dead,I can't believe that I only discovered her now,I never imagined that this woman is the one that sang Im Min'Alu,the one I used to listen back in the 90s so many times.What a great loss for the music

She died on 23rd February 2000 -- the cause being widely reported as organ failure or pneumonia, reportedly arising from HIV/AIDS complications.Her husband that she married in 1997 died in April 2001 and he was suspected of having infected Ofra with the HIV/AIDS virus. His family did an autopsy test after his death but refused to reveal the results.

In December 2007, Israel's Channel 10 disclosed the confidential medical records of Ofra Haza and Doron Ashkenazi (her husband), affirming that the former contracted the virus between 1995 to 1997 and the latter between 1992 to 1993. The two met in 1996. It's so sad!
