Having lived in Ethiopia, the world's poorest country, and Albania, Europe's poorest country, I wholeheartedly agree with the premise of this video. The Natural Resources Defense Council has repeatedly raised millions in donations to stop projects in third world countries. Most of the donations are never used directly for the projects, but instead line the pockets of fat-cat SUV driving lawyers and lobbyists

You're making their point -- part of the film is about a country left desolate by communism, and if there is a chance that this could make things better (it cannot get any worse) then who are we to use the environment as pre-tense to stop this? I have been doing some research work on a mining project that enviormentalists are opposing in the Phippines, i have seen no evidence that it would be bad for the area but the NGO's just scaremonger, you can't reason with them. They don't just oppose the Rapu mine but alll minieral development projects without outlining an alternative. The Phillipines could be the richest country in the region if it developed those resources.

By far the best documentary on the subject. I live in the Adirondack Park. After watching the first ten minutes of the film, it was very clear the that the samething is going on here. They don't like people, and growth is bad. Keeping people and towns small and poor, takes away their ways and means of defending themselves.
Watch the entire DVD. And put yourself in Georges shoes. It breaks your heart.

No offense but not all liberals are like this. For example, I am liberal but I believe that we should not interfere in the issues of other countries whether it be an environmental issue or even Iraq. Before we go trying to fix other countries we need to fix ourselves, preserve our own environment, and help our own poor.

the problem with this video is that it ignores the larger message of environmentalists by focusing on instances where they are being stupid. the larger message is that with ever growing populations and industrialisation, development needs to be sustainable and enviro-conscious

for example, in brazil, large amounts of rainforest are being knocked down for pasture land for cattle. meanwhile, the land that is exposed is not readily adaptable for pasture land, so it quickly deteriorates, leading to more rainforest destruction. at the same time, the rainforest holds keys to profit for brazil because it is a unique environmental asset, yet to reap this profit would require longer-term enviro-friendly planning as opposed to short term measures.

green terrorist. they poisoned a river in the philippines so they could blame the mining company operating near the area but when scientist's tested the sample of water from the river, the chemicals found there are never used by any mining companies.
