Also for the people who think Muay Boran is what Tony Jaa is doing and it has flips in it and all that . Your wrong! Muay Boran started nothing more then Muay Thai with less moves and i know your thinking WHAT?!?! less moves!
Well yes it is its from the old days of Muay Thai. First started without gloves and then later rope fist! Then as ngaiflex said some Bokator was added creating the hardest fighting style ever leading to many Thai deaths now days it is more of only a sport.

I understand what your saying and i aint sayin that muay thai came from cambodia...im sayin,bokator,which is cambodian is the oldest and probably the ancestor of the south eastern martial arts...I know about the Burma/Siam wars and how that developed Muay thai but if you really consider that Bokator is older than Leithwei,muay thai and all the rest,then ul c just what im talking about....Yes,leithwei is older than Muay thai...but my focus is a comparison of all these arts to BOKATOR.

Beeing the sport that it is to this day. It is still not safe as say... well about all other MA... Thailand holds the name for it in the end... Yes it is there art but they did not make it! They only formed what we are seeing today the name 8 limbs of Muay Thai belong to the Thai it is there style so give it to them! In the end all you can really say is it's a mix of things. MUAY THAI FOREVER!!!

There is no saying how old the first form of south east fighting started from Burmas end.
Burma is a crazy place lol but im sure we both know enugh to say they are 2 forms blend into one that make Muay Thai

thanks man i liked the video, liked the other guy had mentioned before, this really helps begginers im really intrigued by muay thai and for me its the best fighting style there is, also very eficient, and thoughtful. =)

None, not ONE of those gracies beat ANYONE who was world class at there style!you put royce in a mma match with a good muat thai fighter(from thailand) and watch him eat a knee as he shoots in like he ALWAYS does.

hahahahaha man the funny thing is that ur right... thats how i proved my theory but still i guess u have a point... until gracie fights a professional muay thai, i can't talk. I also used to do muay thai but i dropped cause if u in my opinion if u don't know ground grappling u give urself a false sense of security.

the oldest martial art of using knees, fists, elbows and kicks was indian adithada it is around 3000-5000yrs old and if the british didnt come and ban its practise for 200yrs i think it would be allot more well known...ive been to india and seen the style and it resembles muay boran and other south east asian martial arts in soo many ways, after all they were part of greater india.

I stopped taking jj because I had reconstructive surgery on my left ankle, then in a few months, after rehab, I get to have it done on my right!!!
And to all saying one form is better or not: No one style is better than the next, they are just different. They all have their strong areas and weak areas.

Years of skating, Muay Thai, and BJJ, I had some ligament and cartilage damage, so they went in and cleaned it all up, no weight bearing for 2 months, then a few months of PT, then I'll back in the gym!
