In which I hop on my soap-box and get preachy regarding young people and how we've been coddled to the point of stagnation.
Things that I don't think need to be said, but will say anyway:
1) Of course I consider myself part of the group I'm speaking of.
2) No, I'm not blaming our parents for our lack of motivation (although I feel that they are contributors, see number 3). Kids have wanted to mess around all day since the beginning of time and we're no different.
3) When I say "older generations" I'm specifically referring to people age 60 and above. Our generation's parents seem to be as inactive as we are (sorry guys!), and it's that buffer-generation of mass-apathy that I think has paved the way for our lack of responsibility.
4) "Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker" might actually be "Mark Foley," but I haven't seen the SNL sketches I'm referencing in quite some time. Consider it an homage to Chris Farley. :)

That is true. We are brought up to wait for permission from authority (either man or deity). As a child it is spoken and required. As adult it is implied. In fight club,"Go to college, get a job, I don't know... get married." Everything is sold as product to buy or described by textbooks and we can't see past structure when in actuality, everything that "is" is a mental conception. There is reality and our opinions. We really shouldn't mix the two. Good topic.

I suggest if you have something good to say, which you do, you say many good things in between. Formulate some key points you want to say, In a normal dialogue understanding is greater achieved, but with 1 way communication posts, you want to pinpoint the objective and share it in a concise manner so as to not be misconstrued.

and sometimes it's better to flow to find out what you want to say, but your self obsession needs work and gets in your way, so do a version 2 before you put it on youtube, record it first, take notes see if it's ok then formulate the things you really want to say, filter the rest out (like the self obsessed ramblings), learn from it, and do a retake. just like preparing for any worthwile presentation.

You know plenty...there is no such thing as altruism...that which is referred to as such is simply mutual selfishness.
If I give a homeless person a coat in the Winter, my world is a better place. It's just selfish on my part...but it's a win-win kind of selfishness.

I had the same thoughts some time ago.
But you DO have influence around your local environment. Just imagine the time around 10 years ago --> in order to spread your thoughts, you had to write an article in the newspaper, but nowadays you have a huge potential audience via YouTube, Blogs etc.!
