dude chris is right. WTF are you talking about "The reason Toyota engineered flex in the frame is for emergency maneuvering with a load" please dont tell me you are that stupid. ive been towing BIG boats and BIG campers for the past 5 years. i can tell you YOU WANT A STRONG AND STURDY FRAME! not one that bends and flexs like fucking jello. that concept really does not involve all that much thought to understand.
The Tundra has what ... ( 1 week ago by FloridaSPL)
The Tundra has what Toyota calls a Triple Tech frame, the front third is boxed for strength to carry the engine and provide frontal crash protection. The middle, where the cabin sits, is a rolled C-channel with top and bottom flanged reinforcements for strength but also to provide better ride comfort. The rear section is an open C-channel for maximum bending resistance and strength to carry heavy loads.

thats pretty much how toyota works. they design something and say its better. frame flex is technically not bad, its just old and out of date when the much sturdier box frame is much better. chris and hotrod r right. you have much more control with a sturdy frame.
ok where to start. ... ( 1 week ago by chris1451)
ok where to start. toy got the frame right when they boxed the front. they f'ed up when they bolted on the crossmembers. They really f'ed up when they claim that a open c channel frame for maximum bending resistance and strength to carry heavy loads. Now that there is just plain funny. How can a open c channel frame carry more than a boxed frame? and bending resistance? what a joke. Now an open c channnel frame CAN be made strong. like the superduty Fords. But toy frame is thin material. WEAK

on youtube search 'bed bounce' ya, it pretty much takes everything you just said about "better ride comfort" and "rear section is an open C-channel for maximum bending resistance" and throws it out the window
Of the farmers that ... ( 1 week ago by muzeitgeist)
Of the farmers that I know, here's the preference for trucks.
80% Ford
15% GM
5% Dodge
Not a single one of them drive imports.
The basic requirement for their trucks:
HAS to start everyday.
ABUSED everyday.
Parts are easily acquired and repaired.
Lasts virtually forever. (30's era trucks still running around)
I'm all about the General. A Buick will piss all over a Ford any day. But hands down nobody comes close to Ford when it comes to trucks. Japanese never did build anything right.

actually my 80 year old neighbor on my farm who has 350 acers, bless his heart drives around 2 older nissan frontiers and a plymoth valiant.

1986 1 ton toyota truck 22re 352000 miles gets used everyday once a week halls in excess of 2300lb atleast 300 miles 1 way has had as much as 5000lb in the bed alone of crush and run stone through mtn curvs nvr broke anything or wore anything. as of this year has had 46000 miles put on it. changed the oil 3 times and a fan belt dosent smoke and nvr stops and still gets 23mpg with a ton on the back almost 30 empty. frame perfect no rust still has factory paint on frame.the bad lacks a few Horses.

ill admit toyota is screwing up but there older trucks u cant find in a junk yard. i made my living on toyota i nvr couldve done it with a ford. i probably will get a ford now just to be a little more profesional but ill nvr forget the truck that got me rolling in life. u dnt need a huige truck to carry your 6 2x4's to patch a fence.
Really. You might ... ( 1 week ago by muzeitgeist)
Really. You might have lucked out on that one. But I'd have to see it to believe it. 30mpg on a one ton, much less a workhorse with 300k+ on it is unlikely. The Toyota 1 ton with the 22re is rated at 26mpg Highway (unloaded).
Not saying yours isn't getting great mileage. It's just something I have to see to believe.
it have a 1985 ... ( 1 week ago by videovirgins)
it have a 1985 celica/supra transmission in it which has a higher gear ratio it is still the same transmission except for the bell housing in some cases. infact all the toyotas that ive ever had have had 300000 plus on them. not saying toyota is the best because they can make some premium junk to but unless your honestly pulling a horse trailer around everyday there is nothing wrong with down sizing. i see to many people with 1 bag of cement in the back and then complain of fuel prices.
not saying toyota ... ( 1 week ago by videovirgins)
not saying toyota is the way and not saying ford is either but people refuse to acknowledge what can work better in some situations because there afraid that people will think there not very manly cause they dont have a big truck. thats y i mighgt get a ford y because its more profesional and i can highly afford it. but shit if its not gna make me money its getting sold asap.
we have some toyota ... ( 1 week ago by testeridd)
we have some toyota tundra in china, but it's quite expensive. Under the current exchange rate, it cost more than 100,000us dollars for a 5.7 L double crew cab. Too expensive!!-.-
really only 15% GM ... ( 1 week ago by BassPro1688)
really only 15% GM and 5% Dodge?? my preferences would be GM/Dodge first then Ford. Nothing against Ford i just find interest in gm and dodge. why do you think dodge has such a low percent rate among farmers? their diesel is one of the best imo. And you are correct japanese companies never built anything apealing to americans. the tundra is a horrific truck. i cant see any farmer or company ever using them.
talk is cheap ... ( 1 week ago by hotrodkid7)
talk is cheap though dude. id have to see your toyota do it to believe it. the gas milage maby, because its a V6. but towing that much weight with that many miles, and your frame isnt rusted through? i suppose MABY, MABY if you live on the southern great planes with NO hills and NO snow. even then im a little weary on buying that story
u know me that i ... ( 1 week ago by hotrodkid7)
u know me that i use fords, but most of the farmers around my farm is use dodge rams with the cummins and a manual transmittion. not as many chevys as you would think. The man with the largest famn in my area ONLY drives fords. he mostly drives around a 2000 F-350 crewcab powerstroke. But he also has a massive F-550.
there is a video of ... ( 1 week ago by Silverwings427)
there is a video of a tundra silverado and f150 at fords test track (probably one of the most extreme tracks in the world) its loaded with chunks of concrete that they ran the trucks over. The toy looked like it was gonna break in half. The silverado was pretty straight but the IFS made it drift around a little, the f150 seemed to do the best. Probably because of the frame and solid axles
oh really most guys ... ( 1 week ago by BassPro1688)
oh really most guys near you use the ram? i deffinatly classify myself as a Morar guy. i love the old mopar muscle cars, the dodge trucks and just over enjoy that company no matter what people say about it. Im suprised their isnt that many chevy's, figured alot of farmers would use them but i guess not. Like always, Id take any Big 3 truck over any of that foreign crap. Ford, Dodge's, GM's are ALL well built trucks, nothing compares or even comes close.
